Sensex close at 32,161.68, Nifty lower than 10,000
MUMBAI: The market benchmark BSE Sensex shed 76.20 points, or 0.23 per cent to close at 32,161.68. Nifty which stayed higher than the 10,000 mark for seven sessions straight has slipped down the psychological level to 22.55 points, or 0.22 per cent, closing at 9,991.10.
The gauge lost 337 points in the previous two sessions.
Down by up to 1.67 per cent, healthcare, FMCG, banking, auto indices and power were all in loss. The indices were majorly pulled down by SunPharma, Dr. Reddy’s, Cipla, Lupin, ONGC along with Reliance Industries.
On the contrary, Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp and Coal India were up.
Asian shares were heterogeneous.
Hong Kong’s Seng was down by 0.01 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei by 0.36 while Shanghai Composite rose 0.11 per cent.
Weak global ends with dampened sentiments, traders said persistent selling by investors after recent gains and muted earnings numbers by some companies.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose ending at a new high by 0.04 per cent.
