Punjab: Protesting teachers, marching towards CM residence in Kharar, lathicharged

Mohali: Protesting unemployed teachers, marching towards Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s residence, were lathi charged in Kharar, Mohali, on Friday. The members of the ETT TET Qualified Unemployed Teachers Union, Punjab, have been protesting for a long time in support of their demands.

The unemployed teachers, who have been protesting at Desu Majra in Mohali, broke a few barricades placed on their way.

The teachers tried to gherao the Kharar residence of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi. However, they were stopped by the police.

When the report was last filed, the protesting teachers were just 4-5 kilometres away from the residence of the Punjab Chief Minister.

Several protesters were severely injured during the lathi charge.

Meanwhile, Punjab police has been deployed near the residence of the Punjab Chief Minister to avoid any untoward situation.
