Jalandhar: Brave girl loses hand but holds snatcher

In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl’s hand was chopped after she resisted the man who was trying to rob her near Kapurthala chowk in Jalandhar on Monday.

The whole incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed nearby the spot. In a video, two men who came on a motorcycle tried to rob the victim when she resisted.

When the girl bravely resisted the robbers, one of them attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, cut off her hand. While one of them fled the spot, the other one was held by her and a man who came to rescue her. Likewise, the girl was immediately taken to a private hospital where she was admitted for the treatment.

The girl has been identified as 15-year-old Kusum who studies in Class 8. She was returning home after tuition when robbers started following her. As soon as she took out her phone to call her father the robbers snatched her phone.

Meanwhile, the police said that a case has been registered against them. One of the accused, identified as Avinash Ashu, has been arrested.
