Delhi Police detains 200 protestors, FIR against Yogendra Yadav and 8 leaders

Delhi Police on Wednesday detained around 200 protesters in connection with the violence at Red Fort during the tractor march in Delhi and attacking police personnel on Republic Day. Also, 9 farmer leaders including Yogendra Yadav have been named in FIR.

Delhi Police said arrests will be made after proper verification. So far, 22 FIRs have been registered in connection with violence during the tractor march in Delhi.

Delhi Police also registered an FIR mentioning the names of nine farm leaders, including Yogendra Yadav, a report stated.

Afterward, Delhi Police said in a statement that FIR by Delhi Police mentioned the names of farmer leaders Darshan Pal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil and Joginder Singh Ugrahan for breach of NOC issued regarding farmers’ tractor rally. FIR also mentioned the name of BKU spox Rakesh Tikait.

The police registered FIR under IPC Sec 395 (dacoity), 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 120 b (punishment of criminal conspiracy), and other sections, regarding violence. Meanwhile, the matter would be investigated by the Crime Branch.

The FIR has been registered in connection with the violence at Red Fort in Delhi during the farmers’ tractor march on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, more than 300 police personnel have been injured after being attacked by agitating farmers on January 26.

Security has been tightened in several places especially at the Red Fort and farmers’ protest sites.

An official stated that several videos and CCTV footage were being scanned to identify protestors. The official also said that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
